Pinterest new API is a tiny step forward

The Pinterest business blog announced the launching of it’s API, though it only works with very limited circle of partners like Zappos, Target, Nestle, Walmart and Hearst. Pinterest already offers the Pin button to everyone, but this is one step closer to creating a full API system and knowledge-base this company should’ve had years ago.

The bureaucracy of applying to get access is not the only disadvantage to this system. They probably use REST and there is no knowledge-base, examples and bugs forums. Also it only enables the close circle of partners to display the most popular pins, and there is a long list of features that any developer will probably ask for.

Hopefully they will work soon on these features or if nothing else they will release the API for the entire community.
